During the TAE2024 in Esslingen, the European Tribology Centre (ETC) made public that a new Tribology Challenge will be launched in 2024.
After the presentation of the novel online platform Tribology UniverseTM, Xavier Borras revealed that the ETC has engaged itself in the quest of harmonizing the data evaluation in reciprocating friction tests. This initiative is being jointly developed by the Mondragon University and the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM).
The tribology field has undeniably made significant progress in the later years, however tribological test results still need to be considered on a relative quantification. The results obtained by two different researchers are generally not comparable one to one and, at most, some similarity in the trends can be identified. To remediate it, a TRIBOLOGY CHALLENGE will be launched.
